401 Lymington Road

It’s Finished

This entry is dated 18 January 2021, though the flats were actually completed some weeks ago. They are impressive, though perhaps rather utilitarian, and there is, of course, an extra storey now. It certainly looks better than it did.

Scroll down to see what is was like before: of course, because of the pandemic, the work has taken longer than planned.
20 October 2019: It’s finally starting! Though planning was granted three years ago, last week the scaffolding went up on the building at the corner of Lymington Road in Highcliffe. As you can see, it is not particularly  salubrious (see the header picture showing the launderette at the corner), and the aim is to add another floor and accommodation. The application was granted in May 2016 and full details are available here. In brief, this is what is intended (from the Planning Report): Erection of an additional floor of residential accommodation, comprising 2 x 1 bed flats and erection of cycle shed and waste storage. The additional accommodation would fall entirely within the crown topped pitched roof with dormers front and rear.
The launderette and brickwork!
