The development of this now defunct hotel opposite Mudeford Recreation Ground into a block of nine flats was reported in the printed Christchurch Times (27 February) and here in the Bournemouth Echo. As you can see from the gallery below, the outside is quite characterful, and the prospect of flats might cause some concern. However, the header image above shows that there are blocks of flats nearby, at Rushford Warren; a red X marks the location of The Pines just round the corner. As a little background, I remember delicious Sunday lunches there on several occasions. It was later purchased and used as staff accommodation for another local hotel. The pictures below indicate that it would no longer be such a comfortable environment! Click to see larger versions.
Anyway, on to the planning application. The plan is to ‘Demolish the existing property, replace with a development of 9 flats, together with the provision of on-site car parking and covered cycle parking spaces, residents’ amenity space and landscaping.’
You can see what it will look like below. Click for a larger version, or view it and others among the planning documents.
