The Official Opening – 10 November 2017
Today our local MP, Chris Chope, came to open the Post Office. There was a surprise on entering, as there is now a new section where many of the services can be provided. Note that there is no post box yet, as that has to be provided by Royal Mail (not the Post Office), but letters can be handed in at the counters. Of course, stamps are also sold!
Below is the Postmaster, Stuart Britton, standing proudly in this new area. The picture below that one shows the things you can do at that counter. A photograph of the main Post Office area, which is at the back of this shop, is near the bottom of this report.
It was good to see Mr Chope there. He met staff and customers before the ceremony.
As you can see, he has now been given the smart red scissors, ready to cut the tape. The people are, from left to right:
Stuart Taylor (Post Office Stakeholders Manager) holding the tape, Zoe Spratling (Network Operations Manager, South West), Stuart Britton (Postmaster), Chris Chope, MP, and last but not least, a new local resident, Stanley Greenacre, who kindly agreed to join us!
Getting ready for another shot.
The ‘real’ press were there too:
Yes, it’s true!
Today, 16 October, the new Post Office branch opened in Highcliffe. It is inside the excellent Occasions card shop – see Facebook reviews. There are two windows, and opening times will be every day except Sunday, from 9am-5.30pm.
Note that at present it is not possible to exchange old pound coins there. There is no post box yet, as that has to be done by Royal Mail, not the Post Office!
