2018 (i) – Remembrance Sunday, 11 November

Two Brief Reports

We were lucky with the weather. After a night of rain, even some flooding, the day began with even more. Fortunately the sun soon appeared, just in time.

The header picture shows part of today’s procession through Christchurch town centre.

First, the Ceremony at Purewell Cross

As you can see from the picture, this is a small event, taking place at about 9am, before the main one in Christchurch itself.

Read This

Here is a link to a book by Sue Newman, entitled Battle’s Over – Beacon of Light. As I write (January 2019) it is available free of charge in the Tourist Office. The scan is decent enough quality, but the original is even better. Well worth reading.

Our Local Hospital  and the War

Many will be aware of the display board outside Christchurch Hospital, but I’ve rarely seen anyone reading it. It shows a little of the history of the hospital and its function during World War 1.

Larger copies of the boards are available for you to read. Just click the small images.
