2019 (k) – Hoburne 5-Mile Road Race, 29 September

Sunday, 29 September 2019 at 10.30am.

The header picture above was of runners about 200m from the finish. Downhill to the end. The sepia tone is accidental, I pressed something on the camera, but it looks good so I have left it! (Mobile users – if you want to see it, click here.)

The chosen good causes for 2019 were the Mental Health charity Dorset MIND and the Dorset Disability Charity Diverse Abilities.

There has been a lot in the press about the athletic championships in Doha. It has been so hot and humid there that athletes have been dropping like flies. I’m sure you will have seen some of the distressing scenes in the news.

Fortunately the conditions were immeasurably better in Hoburne. The weather was pleasantly cool, slightly breezy, and with some light rain interspersed with sunlight. I am pleased to say that no-one collapsed through heat exhaustion!

There are a lot of photographs: click a picture to go through the gallery of some of the best, free to download. Those towards the bottom are at the finish. If you choose View Full Size (bottom right in the gallery), use the back arrow to return.

The winner. Unfortunately he was so quick that I missed him!
I may have missed first place, but did better for the second!

Here are all the photographs, except those ten or so which failed! These are only contact sheets, so would not be suitable for printing. If you would like to have a high-resolution copy, email confer@ThisIsChristchurch.com with the number, and I will email a copy at no charge.

Note that the size of each of these images is indicated. They are quite large, but have to be so to ensure that the runner is recognisable!
